Fred W. Lueker

	Fred W. Lueker, age 78, of Pinckneyville, passed away Monday morning, March 11, 2002 at 8:56 a.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville.
	Fred was born February 29, 1924, the son of Fred C. and Ethel (Guy) Lueker both of whom preceded him in death.  He married Virginia Blumhorst on October 11, 1947 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Johannesburg, Ill. and she survives.
	During his lifetime, he served with the U.S. Army during WW II in the 63rd Infantry Division and received the Purple Heart while in combat.  He was a retired United Mine Workers of American miner and previous owner of Lueker Welding and Implement with his father.  He was a member of the Pinckneyville American Legion Post #2504, the Nashville Order of Eastern Star, the Pinckneyville VFW Post #3959, the Mitchell Masonic Lodge #85, A.F. & A.M. and past Worshipful Master, a member of the Perry County Shrine Club and Ainad Temple in East St. Louis and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.  During his retirement he enjoyed his woodworking shop.
	Other survivors include his two sons:  Jerry Lueker and his wife, Cherie, of Pinckneyville and Tom and his wife, Shirley, of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; four grandchildren:  Jeremy Lueker of Pinckneyville, Tricia Lueker of Carterville, T.J. Lueker and Dustin Lueker of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; one sister:  Esther Lunnemann of Steeleville, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He will also be missed by his dearest friend:  Lawrence (Pat) Patton and fellow Masons L.C. McDaniel and Phil Behiter.
	Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 14, 2002 in the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karen Stahr Terada officiating.  Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville.  Pinckneyville American Legion Post #2504 provided graveside military rites.
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. and on  Thursday from 8 until 10:30 a.m.  Mitchell Lodge #85, A.F. & A.M., Pinckneyville, provided services on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
	Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
